Living on a budget one meal at a time

This is my first post on this blog so I want to give a little background. I got tired of spending $800-$1,000 a month on food for a family of 3. We eat pretty healthy and bought into the old adage that it cost more to eat healthy, and I started to use that as an excuse for why the budget was so high. So I set out a few months ago to start making dinner cost as little as posible. The best part is I only spent $425 last month for ALL of my families groceries.

My 7 secrets so far:
  1. Planning food for 2 weeks and then doing all the shopping in one day. (Actually I shop on the 5 and the 22nd, those are the paydays).
  2. Shopping at Winco.
  3. Shop the ads for all the grocery stores.
  4. Cooking from scratch.
  5. Buying food from the bulk bins instead of pre-packaged.
  6. Making enough food for lunch the next day...and then eating it for lunch.
  7. Make Delicious food
So this blog will be about the recipes that make it possible to eat good, healthy and cheap food.
